My work is representational – founded on the craft of observation drawing and an emphasis on keeping a sketchbook (which I take with me wherever I go).

Through my interest in marine painting I wrote the book The Art of Nautical Illustration: a visual tribute to the work of the clasic marine painters. This was published in the UK, USA and elswhere. It is now in its third reprint.
